I’m Elise Levine, an award-winning fiction and nonfiction writer. I’m also a compassionate, committed, experienced teacher of creative writing.

Elise Levine is the author of the recent novella collection Say This and the short-story collection This Wicked Tongue, named a Book to Read for June 2019 by A.V. Book Club and a Book to Read for Summer 2019 by Bustle and the CBC. She is also the author of the novels Blue Field and Request and Dedications, and the story collection Driving Men Mad. Her work has also appeared recently in Ploughshares, The Gettysburg Review, The Collagist, Blackbird, and Best Canadian Stories, among many other publications, and has been a finalist for The Best Small Fictions 2018. Elise is a recipient of a Canadian National Magazine Award for fiction; many residency fellowships including Yaddo and the MacDowell Colony; and awards from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Ontario Arts Council, and the Toronto Arts council.

Elise also has much experience teaching creative writing, at both the undergraduate and masters levels, most recently as the Director of the MA in Writing Program at Johns Hopkins University. She has also conducted private workshops in her native Canada and in the US, and worked with individual clients on their short stories and novel manuscripts. Originally from Toronto, ON, she now resides in Baltimore, MD.
